The Omaha Lead Site
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) added the Omaha Lead Site to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) in 2003 in response to requests from concerned citizens and the City of Omaha about the presence of children with blood lead levels greater than 10 µg/dL (micrograms per deciliter), The Omaha Lead Site contains approximately 14 square miles of residential property in east Omaha.

A 2005 public health assessment performed by the Agency of Toxic Disease Registry (ATSDR) of the site categorizes the site as a public health hazard based on the ongoing exposures of lead at levels that are known to cause adverse health effects.

If you live in close proximity to the boundary borders of 45th St , L St or Ames Ave, and you want to know if your property has had yard soil testing or should have testing contact the Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 Omaha Lead Public Information Center to see if you can participate in the FREE soil testing services. You can also request a copy of the soil test results if it has been replaced.

When selling your home you must inform the new owners of the soil test results.
