Executive Director
Kara Henner Eastman, MSW
Kara holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago. Her primary experiences have been with start-up nonprofit organizations focusing on social and health issues. She has worked as the Director of Rainbow House, a shelter for battered women and children in Chicago, helped start Extra Hands for ALS, a national, student-based volunteer program that assists patients with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and most recently was the Director of Friendship Shelter, a shelter and transitional housing program for homeless adults in Laguna Beach. Kara has expertise in developing programs and outcome measurement tools for nonprofits, is fluent in Spanish, and with her husband Scott (a professor of History at Creighton University) is co-raising their daughter Sabina. In her free time she writes, cooks, practices yoga, and studies natural health.

Assistant Director
Ché C. Thompson
Ché holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Professional Applications from Bellevue University. Ché brings extreme dedication and 14 years of experience working in the Omaha Community as a Child and Public Health Advocate, with 5 years specializing in Lead Poisoning Prevention. Ché is the mother of a 12 year old Honor Roll student at Beveridge Magnet School. When not serving as her son's number one fan during Marshal Art tournaments, school plays and swim meets, she instructs an exercise class at the YMCA. Ché also enjoys various outdoor activities, music, dancing, wine tasting and Nebraska football.
